Partners
The Junior League of Charlottesville (JLC) offers a Community Partner program that consists of local non-profit agencies that have been selected as targeted recipients of the League’s volunteer hours and funds during a sustained, multi-year collaborative interaction. These partnerships are created and cultivated in an effort to maximize the effectiveness of both organizations’ outreach work within the community.
Boys & Girls Club

Cooking Circles is a partnership between the JLC and the Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia with the goal of empowering the health and independence of girls ages nine through eleven through sharing cooking skills, knowledge and tips, while providing fellowship and mentorship.
Our group meets each week during the school year from 5:30 to 6:30 PM to cook and enjoy a meal together. Throughout the year, we are privileged with the gifts of time and expertise from the community through cooking demonstrations and tutorials. One of our favorites from 2023-2024 was a visit from sushi chefs at Wegmans who taught us all to roll sushi!
The JLC has partnered with the Boys and Girls Club since 2014. Prior programs included the Learning Circles Program. In this Community Partners program, League members mentored a group of pre-teen girls 8-12 years old, helping build self-esteem and providing positive female role models.
